UK born, Canadian-based Filipinx artist and JUNO nominated singer / songwriter / selectress Mamalia recalls the first time she heard Chaka's voice, a hypnotic drum rhythm, Samba to Motown, digging into her Papa's record collection obsessively for hours as a child…  Soul, Jazz, Funk, & 90's dance music filled the home and her passion for music finally turned career when she was invited to perform across the globe as a solo artist and with her award-winning band Sekoya! From Shanghai to Stockholm, Tokyo to Berlin, New York to Milan, Mamalia's most recent career highlights include being invited to open for Yoko Ono's International Exhibition "Riverbed" and being a part of The Kathara Indigenous Pilipino Arts Collective's performance at MOA. She has opened and played with the likes of Erykah Badu, Tanya Tagaq, Angelique Kidjo, Cinematic Orchestra, Maraca, Atjazz, Opolopo, Osunlade & Natasha Diggs to name a few...
